Jacob Evans
Born in East London in 1986, I initially planned to follow my father into mechanical engineering until I realized I lacked his passion for machines. While studying at university, I discovered online casinos and in 2005 landed a job as a live casino croupier - a revolutionary concept at the time - where I worked for six years.
After meeting my girlfriend Freya and moving to Birmingham, I transitioned into writing for major casino industry publications. In the late 2010s, I partnered with fellow authors to create Casino.online, aiming to help players just as early casino sites had once helped me.
My Education
Universities have never been my thing - I've always been more about hands-on working with casinos and becoming better at rating them. That said, I did complete my studies at the University of East London, where I gained valuable analytical skills that later proved essential in my casino review work.

FAQs for Jacob Evans
Where does your passion for iGaming come from?
My passion stems from my early days as a university student when I first discovered online casinos. What started as casual play evolved into a genuine fascination with the industry, especially after working as a live dealer and seeing the business from the inside.
How did you end up at Casino.online?
After years of working as a croupier and then writing for major casino industry publications, I realized there was a gap in the market for truly honest, player-focused casino reviews. Together with some fellow writers, we decided to create our own platform where we could help players the way early casino sites had helped me.
What makes your reviews different from others?
Having worked both sides of the table - as a player and as a live dealer - I understand the industry from multiple perspectives. My reviews focus on practical player experience rather than just technical specifications.
What's your most controversial casino opinion?
I believe that many so-called "VIP programs" are actually designed to encourage problem gambling rather than reward loyalty. True player protection should always come before profit margins.
How do you stay current with industry changes?
I stay current by attending industry expos, following regulatory updates, and engaging with player communities. Balancing official news with real player feedback ensures my reviews remain practical, honest, and relevant to today’s fast-changing casino landscape.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy exploring Birmingham’s food scene with Freya, reading history and biographies, and playing strategy games that challenge my mind while offering a fun escape from the casino industry’s fast pace.
