Exclusive Interview with Alessia Smirnova of Notix.Games: How to Close High-Stakes Deals in iGaming

Apr 6, 2026

Business development in iGaming often boils down to numbers and negotiations, but for Alessia Smirnova, Senior BDM at Notix.Games, it’s about spotting real operator pain points and closing high-stakes deals across LatAm and Europe.

In this candid chat, we unpack hurdles like infrastructure gaps and slot-heavy churn, poker’s edge on acquisition costs, and how event floors like SiGMA fuel her partnership wins - plus a nod to travels that sharpen her edge.

Here is our exclusive interview with a true deal-maker.

From Software Sales to iGaming: What Drew Alessia Smirnova to the Industry

Joshua: Alessia, thank you for joining us! Before we dive into what’s happening in the industry today, let’s start at the beginning. You’ve spent over a decade in business development. Looking back, what was it about the iGaming sector that first captured your interest, and how has your daily mission evolved now that you’re at Notix.Games?

Alessia: Many thanks for the invitation, Joshua. I am happy to be your guest.

What drew me to iGaming was its dynamic fusion of cutting-edge technology, global scale, and constant innovation - a thrilling shift from my decade in business development selling software development outsourcing and outstaffing, where I focused on developers’ teams rather than finished products. The sector's high-stakes global strategy hooked me, moving me from broad service sales to connecting B2B providers with operators and platforms.

Now at Notix.Games, my mission sharpens to establishing our name in LatAm and EU, forging new partnerships, and acquiring customers through seamless integrations for our aggregation platform and in-house studio.

Infrastructure Challenges in LatAm and Europe - and How Notix.Games Solves Them

Joshua: You’ve navigated both the European and LatAm markets extensively. What are the most common infrastructure hurdles operators face in these regions, and how is Notix.Games solving them through scalable tech?

Alessia: In LatAm and emerging European markets, the biggest hurdle is not some piece of infrastructure, but the process of building the infrastructure from scratch in the unstable regulatory environment. The rules are constantly changing. Marketing channels, payment systems, KYC solutions, and even games that were doing just fine a month ago, may become no longer relevant almost overnight.

At Notix.Games, especially now that we are building a turnkey platform, we focus on flexible and fully manageable solutions for operators. Our customers may quickly react to any changes in the infrastructure or player behavior, and adapt their casino to the new reality or a new market with less effort. And their account managers will be with them all the way, until we find what works.

Adapting Global Solutions to Local Regulations in iGaming Markets

Joshua: With your multilingual background and experience in places like Peru and Cyprus, how do you tailor a "global" solution to meet the hyper-local regulatory demands of such different jurisdictions?

Alessia: With my background across different markets, I've learned that a global solution doesn't mean being everywhere at once. At Notix Games, we've chosen our targets carefully - Brazil, Peru, and select EU countries like Spain, where we're already certified. We move slowly but surely toward new markets, focusing our efforts instead of spreading them thin. That's how we make sure our platform meets hyper-local regulatory demands - market by market, the right way.

Top Operator Pain Points Revealed at iGaming Events Like SiGMA and ICE

Joshua: From ICE Barcelona to SiGMA, you’re always on the move. Beyond the surface-level networking, what is the one recurring "pain point" you’re hearing from operators at these shows right now?

Alessia: Operators always face challenges starting from player retention and acquisition, technical issues, fragmented fintech to compliance overload and so on. Another key one is integration fatigue - too many vendors, too much hassle, and something is down almost all the time. Notix.Games fixes it with our single-API aggregator: one easy feed for thousands of games, fast setup, and 99.9% uptime, so they focus on growth instead of fixing tech problems.

From Deal to Delivery: Ensuring Seamless Integration After the Handshake

Joshua: In Business Development, the "handshake" is the easy part, but technical integration is where the real work begins. How do you, as a BDM, bridge the gap between a sales promise and a live, high-performing product to ensure the partnership actually thrives post-contract?

Alessia: That's an important question - because it's not just about the company's reputation, but my own as well. I'm the one making the promises.

For me, the bridge starts before the handshake. I involve our tech teams early so I never promise what we can't deliver. After the deal, I stay closely involved during integration - I don't just hand it off and walk away.

Good processes and teamwork are everything. We all depend on each other, and when everyone's aligned, the partnership thrives.

The Gutsiest Career Moves That Shaped Alessia Smirnova’s Success

Joshua: You’ve compared iGaming deals to a poker hand before. Looking back at your career, what’s the gutsiest "play" or partnership deal you’ve made that ultimately paid off?

Alessia: Looking back, the gutsiest plays weren't really about external deals - they started from within. A battle with your own fears, limits, and stereotypes. Once you're ready to overcome those and become more open and flexible, things change. The boldest moves I've made were trusting my instincts and stepping outside my comfort zone. And every time I did that, it paid off.

How to Recharge After High-Stakes Travel and iGaming Conferences

Joshua: Constant travel and high-velocity business development can be exhausting. After a long conference day or a cross-continental flight, what are your non-negotiable rituals for switching off and recharging?

Alessia: That's my favorite question - because this is so true.

For me, my non-negotiable rituals are: a long sleep, booking a massage session, and going to a yoga class. Sometimes, a long walk in the forest too. It helps me get back into routine faster and stay productive.

The One Skill You Need to Build a Long-Term Career in iGaming

Joshua: For someone looking to break into iGaming business development today, what is the one skill, beyond technical knowledge, that you believe is essential for building a 10-year career in this space?

Alessia: I believe the essential skill is real relationship-building - not just networking. This industry is fast, but it's also surprisingly small. People remember who delivered on their promises and who was honest during tough conversations.

A solid career isn't built on quick wins. It's built on trust, consistency, and genuine partnerships that last through market shifts and regulatory changes. If you can build those relationships, you'll always have a place in this space.
