The 2025 European Gaming Congress (EGC) in Warsaw achieved record attendance, reinforcing its role as a key European hub for gaming and tech. Organiser HIPTHER announced the event will evolve into the HIPTHER Warsaw Summit in 2026, appointing legal expert Marek Plota as its first Ambassador.
Record Attendance and Evolving Event Focus
The EGC 2025 featured its most ambitious program to date across two stages - the Compliance & Operations Lab and the TechXperience Stage - alongside HIPTHER Academy Workshops.
The event recorded an attendance that has now tripled compared to its 2023 reintroduction, firmly establishing Warsaw as a dynamic centre for discussions on gaming, compliance, and technology.
The Compliance & Operations Lab offered a detailed review of the European regulatory ecosystem, covering Poland's legal framework, cross-border compliance in core CEE territories like the Czech Republic and Romania, and emerging priorities in the Baltics.
Experts also provided an update on several LATAM jurisdictions. Key agenda items included an IMGL Masterclass on collaborative governance and discussions on fintech, taxation, licensing, and responsible gaming standards.
Tech Innovation and Strategic Leadership
The TechXperience Stage focused on future trends, bringing together leaders in iGaming, fintech, digital entertainment, and cybersecurity. Sessions explored the role of AI for competitive advantage, the evolution of esports, SEO trends, player personalisation, and cyber resilience in iGaming. This cross-industry focus underlines Warsaw's status as a significant meeting point for various sectors across Europe.
Marek Plota, Founding Attorney at RM Legal & Gaming in Poland, played a leading role throughout the Congress, moderating and speaking on topics including Poland's gambling framework, European lessons for CEE markets, and strategic taxation. His widely respected presence in national and international gaming markets and long-standing association with HIPTHER led to the formalisation of his new role.
Marek Plota Named Ambassador of the HIPTHER Warsaw Summit
HIPTHER announced Plota as the Ambassador for the HIPTHER Warsaw Summit, effective from the 2026 edition. His appointment is expected to assist the transition and strengthen the event's stature. Plota is the head of the legal team at RM Legal Law Firm and Gaming In Poland, providing multidisciplinary support to leading international gambling operators in the Polish, European Union, and African markets.
Plota commented that the intimate and insightful nature of HIPTHER events makes them "truly unique in the global gaming and gambling conference calendar."
The transition from EGC to the HIPTHER Warsaw Summit in 2026 is a strategic move to reflect Poland's growing importance as a crossroads for regulatory influence, iGaming innovation, and international market expansion, connecting Western Europe, CEE, and emerging global markets.
