The PGCB issues $73,000 Fines to its Licensees for Social Responsibility Failings

Licensees that were fined

The $73,000 is the total amount that has been issued between three of the PGCB’s licensees. Live! Casino Pittsburgh has been issued with the largest fine of $30,000. This was done after the casino, which is under Stadium Casino Westmoreland Re, LLC, was discovered to have allowed two self-excluded players to enter and gamble at the gaming floor. The board also found out, through an audit, that the casino has allowed players below 21 years old to play slot machines at the casino. This is perhaps one of the most significant social responsibility failings in the online casino space.

Another company that was fined is the Parx Casino. This casino received a $18,075 fine when the board found out that it failed to submit two license renewal requests on time. The fine may seem big for such an offence, but considering that there are two failed submissions, it is only fair.

The third victim of this move by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores. This company received a $25,000 fine for not submitting its updated ownership structure to the licensing board. The company failed to submit a copy of its revised structure involving five VGT truck stop institution sites.

The board issued these licensed during a public meeting, where it also approved four consent agreements. These agreements were a result of the deliberations between the OEC and the three licensees that have been issued with the fines explained above.

Another significant announcement from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

In addition to issuing these fines, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board also announced the renewal of River Casino Philadelphia’s license. This renewal allows Sugerhouse Gaming to continue operating the casino. The license allows the firm to continue operating the casino for half a decade. This was a unanimous decision that was significantly pushed by the nearly $4.5 billion that the casino generated since its conception in 2021, under this firm.

This license renewal was confirmed after the operator submits information relevant for the renewal. In 2022, a public input hearing was conduced in the city of Philadephia, here the company is hosted. During the hearing, the firm’s staffs submitted exhibits and offered proof on different features of its operation since its last authorization renewal was approved. The hearing also included testimonies from the public regarding the casino’s impact in the community.
